About

Elena Chernyshova is a Russian/French documentary self-taught photographer.

She got a passion for this visual language during her studies in the Moscow Architectural Academy and developed it during a 3-year bicycle trip in Eurasia. 

Photography for her is a way to investigate the daily life of different groups and communities in the context of environmental, political, and economic changes.

In 2011 Elena received a grant from the Lagardère Foundation to create her first photo documentary ‘Days of Night – Nights of Day’ that was recognized by World Press Photo, Days Japan Award and etc. 

She regularly collaborates with National Geographic Russia, GEO, Stern, Figaro, Le Monde and others.
